The following products are available: Low Cholesterol Diet ProductsIn the pursuit of both men’s and women’s heart health, the term ‘cholesterol’ has been bandied about by health professionals and nutritionists alike, but the term itself is one that hasn’t had much explanation. First off, cholesterol itself is a compound that belongs to the sterol family. It is a combination of steroids and alcohol that was first identified in 1769 by a French biochemist named François Poulletier de la Salle. Cholesterol is involved in many of your body’s important chemical synthesis processes, but why do so many people say that it is bad for you? Well, it isn’t bad for you in normal quantities because it assists in vital processes that take place in your brain, liver and nervous system, but it becomes a problem and can damage your heart when you have it in excess. The reason for this is that cholesterol travels through your blood system to get to where your body needs it. Because of its makeup, cholesterol is insoluble in your blood stream, which again is a good thing because it needs to arrive at its destination unscathed and unchanged. However, the excess cholesterol collects in the bottlenecks of your circulatory system. These bottlenecks are usually the valves of your heart. When cholesterol collects around them, these valves decrease blood flow, making your heart work harder than it should to supply your body with its life-giving liquid. So how do you control your cholesterol levels? You can manage your diet to keep your cholesterol intake at acceptable levels, and you can also supplement your diet with natural health products to help manage the amount of cholesterol you have in your system. There are many low cholesterol foods at your supermarket and many cholesterol lowering supplements that you can find online to help you maintain your heart health, but it is recommended that you consult your physician before you attempt any new diet regimen or health supplement intake. |
